Fortis Life Insurance was launched in the year 2008 and is a part of Ageas Limited. In January 2011, they are to be rebranded as Ageas. Famous for doing pioneering work in the field of protection insurance, they have won many awards for its commercial and personal insurance solutions. There are two main divisions of the company and each of them provide both life and non-life term products. These products are channelized through many channels which includes Financial Advisors, Brokers, Intermediaries, Internet, Affinity partners etc. along with many majority owned organisations.

These include famous names like Kwik-Fit Insurance Services, Text2Insure, Affinity Solutions, Ageas Insurance Solutions (AIS), and RIAS, to name a few.

The company has won many awards. In 2010, Ageas won four awards which were 'Claims Initiative of the Year', 'Customer Care', 'Personal Lines Insurer of the Year', and 'The Technology Award'. Apart from this the company is six time winner of the 'Motor Insurer of the Year' award of the Insurance Times.

History

Fortis Life Insurance, launched in June 2008, is a part of the big group Ageas UK. The company is proudly insuring around 7.6 million customers worldwide. The customer base of the group is around 20 million and the employee strength is nearly 11,000. The group operates in almost all the major countries of the globe. The turnover of the group for the year 2009 was EUR 16 billion. In May 2010, they rebranded to Ageas and became a standalone international insurance organization.

They are known for their consistent delivery of services and excellent customer experience. In the year 2009, the non life Gross Written Premium of the company was around GBP 805 million and the profit of the company was GBP 29 million, before interest and tax.

Products

Fortis Life Insurance has two plans-Real Life Cover and Your Life Plan. Both of them meet real time protection needs. Customers who know that they need more than only Life Assurance, but the traditional products are either too expensive for them or are too complicated can opt for the Real Life Cover. This plan has a package of seven different covers and it also provides the option of unemployment cover.

Your Life Plan is a flexible menu protection product. It offers Critical Illness Cover, Term Assurance, Family Income Benefits and Income Protection. Customers have the choice to choose any one cover according to the needs or the covers can be used as a complete package.

These two products of the company are treated as very innovative in the field of assurance and when they were launched in 2008, they were welcomed with great enthusiasm. Usually their products are distributed through Financial Advisors.
